‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has surpassed expectations at the worldwide box office to become ARY Films’ highest ever grosser worldwide. With a mammoth PKR 86 Cr total, it now stands as the second-highest grossing film (unadjusted for inflation) ever from Pakistan only behind ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’(2022).

A Half Century at the Domestic Box Office

It’s not even been a month since the film’s release and it’s galloped past the PKR 50 Cr mark at the local box office. ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ stands at PKR 54.5 Cr and counting.

With major cinema chains in cities still reporting house full shows over weekends, it’s realistic to assume the film isn’t quite done yet. We may see it go past the PKR 60 Cr mark.

A Steady Hold at the International Box Office

While not quite as impressive as its local box office returns, ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has become one of the highest grossers ever at the overseas box office. It has accumulated a total of PKR 31.5 Cr from the US and Canada, the UK, the UAE, and Australia.

Performance at Major Cinema Chains

As you would expect, ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has generated some of its largest box office receipts from major cinema chains in the largest cities in Pakistan. Here are a few of those totals that we have compiled from insider sources and official announcements.

Nueplex Cinemas (Karachi)

Nueplex Cinemas is the largest cinema chain in Karachi, with 16 screens in total across two locations. The chain has reported a total gross of over PKR 13 Cr by April 9. The average ticket cost at the cinema chain is PKR 1000. Some quick calculation will tell you they’ve sold well over 100,000 tickets!

Centaurus Cineplex (Islamabad)

Centaurus Cineplex is located inside Centaurus Mall in Islamabad and is owned by Nadeem Mandviwalla. They reported a total of PKR 1.05 Cr on 5th April.

The total number of tickets is harder to calculate here, since the cinema has 5 screens, with prices varying from PKR 800 to PKR 2000 for the Ambassador Cinema.

Assuming an average price of PKR 1000, the film may have sold over 10,000 tickets at Centaurus.

Eid Ul Fitr 2026 has brought in record breaking numbers at the worldwide box office. The two major releases, “Aag Lagay Basti Mein” and “Bullah” have brought in great numbers in Pakistan and overseas territories to stamp this Eid as a bona fide box office success.

Aag Lagay Basti Mein

Let’s begin with the firecracker. Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan’s Aag Lagay Basti Mein has set several records at the Pakistani and worldwide box office for its opening weekend.

Biggest Domestic Opening Weekend Of All Time

In Pakistan, the film grossed PKR 16.2 Cr, breaking the record set by Humayun Saeed’s Love Guru in 2025 (PKR 12.8 Cr). The film has also broken the all time opening weekend record set by Avengers Endgame back in 2019 (PKR 14.5 Cr).

Reports of sold out shows are coming in from multiple cities, with cinemas adding extra shows to accommodate the rush. The film’s star power, quick pace and its emphasis on comedy and action are being touted by audiences. Tabish Hashmi’s performance is being praised as the highlight of the film.

Overseas Collections

International audiences are also showing the film a lot of love. The opening weekend brought in a total of 11 Cr from various territories including North America, UAE, and the UK.

United Kingdom

An initial figure of £61,000 (PKR 2.26 Cr) was reported for the opening weekend.

North America

Comprising the US and Canada territories, the North American box office generated $165,000 (PKR 4.60 Cr).

UAE

The film took an outstanding start in UAE with an opening weekend of $181k (PKR 5.05 Cr.).

Australia

The film generated a total of $17,764 (PKR 50 Lacs) at the Australian box office.

Bullah

Shaan’s action packed bloodbath, Bullah is the second biggest film doing the rounds. It has generated buzz among Shaan’s fans and is poised to be the superstar’s biggest film since 2013’s Waar.

Domestic Opening Weekend

Bullah scored 2.36 Cr at the local box office during its opening weekend. The film is facing tough competition from Aag Lagay Basti Mein which has taken over the lion’s share of shows at cinemas across the nation.

The bigger 5-day total as reported by Shake Films is PKR 8.91 Cr.

Overseas Opening Weekend Gross

Bullah’s performance overseas has fared similarly to its performance domestically. The total of some of the major territories like UK, North America and UAE comes to PKR 1.33 Cr.

North America

The film pulled in much lower numbers than its competition in North America, generating just $7500 (20.9 Lacs).

UAE

In UAE, Shaan Shahid starrer registered a decent opening weekend with $23,505 ( PKR 66 Lacs )

United Kingdom

In the UK, the film collected a modest total of £12,000 (PKR 46 Lacs).

Other Films

There are a couple of other films running at the Pakistani box office since Eid weekend, while others have begun advanced booking.

Delhi Gate

The only other domestic release from Pakistan is the Shamoon Abbasi starrer and Nadeem Cheema directorial Delhi Gate. In production since 2019, the film has finally been released. However, very few shows, if any, are available for the film in cinemas. No box office figures have been reported yet either.

Dasim

The Indonesian horror flick Dasim is running in cinemas nationwide. The film is about a newly wed couple who are haunted by the demon Dasim.

Project Hail Mary

One of the biggest Hollywood films of the year, this sci-fi adventure stars Ryan Gosling. From the author behind the Martian, the film is being touted as one of the best of the year.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

The sequel to the gory Samara Weaving starrer about a nightmare of a wedding night, the film ups the body count and the gore. It also stars Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood.

Viyaah Kartaare Da

This is the latest offering from Indian Punjab starring Gippy Garewal, Gurpreet Singh and Nimrat Khaira. The film has received glowing reviews for its laughs and zany plot.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The film hasn’t been released yet, but advanced booking is open. The sequel to the billion dollar worldwide animated hit is set to light the box office on fire. You can get your tickets now.

People have thronged to the theaters to watch local films, Hollywood films, and other foreign films including those from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. They’ve also gone for all sorts of genres including romance, horror, anime, 3D animation, and action films.

So, here are the top grossing films of this year at the local box office.

Note: Since there is no unified source for box office numbers in Pakistan, we have pulled the figures listed here from a variety of sources. These include industry news sources, film producers, and Box Office Mojo.

1. Sardaarji 3 – PKR 51.4 Crore

The undisputed champion of the local box office in 2025 was Sardaarji 3. The Indian Punjabi film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir worked its magic and audiences flocked to see it in hordes.

Even with the controversy that led to the film being banned in its home country, Sardaarji 3 was a money spinner at the international box office, and especially in Pakistan. Its approximate final gross of over 51 Cr stands as the ultimate winner at the 2025 Pakistani box office.

2. Love Guru – PKR 45 Crore

Humayun Saeed proved that his consistency and stardom is second to none at the Pakistani box office. With Love Guru minting a mammoth 45 Cr at the local box office and a personal record setting 80 Cr worldwide, Humayun Saeed proved the naysayers wrong.

Along with the JPNA franchise, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and London Nahi Jaunga, this is his fifth consecutive box office hit. The man is in a league of his own, generating hit after hit without a miss.

3. Jurassic World: Rebirth – PKR 22.3 Crore

The next film on our list is the latest entry in the Jurassic Park franchise. Jurassic World: Rebirth starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali was the lowest grosser among the Jurassic World sequels, but it still made a ton of money at the worldwide box office.

In Pakistan, the film minted over 22 Cr and proved that audiences are still in love with dinosaurs and monster movie adventures. With more Godzilla, King Kong, and monster movies in the pipeline, local audiences will keep getting their fill.

4. Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Ni Aunda – PKR 21.5 Crore

This is another Indian Punjabi film that made big money at the local box office. A co-production starring Imran Ashraf and Jassie Gill, it proved that Indian Punjabi films have a huge audience in Pakistan.

While this one was not particularly well promoted or featured a novel story, it still managed to generate consistent foot traffic. With a total of over 21.5 Cr, the film along with Sardaarji 3 is proof that the co-production formula can do wonders for Pakistan.

5. Deemak – PKR 17.7 Crore

A horror film on a list of highest grossers! That’s something you don’t see every day. What’s even rarer is that it’s a Pakistani film! Deemak made history as the first commercially successful horror film from Pakistan.

Rafay Rashdi’s gamble paid off, and audiences kept Deemak in theaters for months afters its Eid release. This has led to a domestic total of 17.7 Cr. Currently, the film is successfully touring in international markets and has racked up a global total of 20.6 Cr.

There have been cult horror hits from Pakistan before like the classic Zinda Laash, or the indie Zibahkhana, and even the festival darling In Flames. However, no horror film has come close to the commercial success of Deemak.

6. Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning – PKR 17 Crore

Tom Cruise’s alleged final outing as super spy Ethan Hunt was always going to be a money spinner at the box office. Die hard fans came to watch the finale of the franchise and were awestruck by the incredible action sequences including the submarine descent and the final air battle.

With a total of 17 Cr, Tom Cruise managed to weave his movie magic again and rope in fans for a final wild ride.

7. F1 – PKR 17 Crore

This is the most successful film of Brad Pitt’s career and it’s a visual marvel. Made by the same team behind Top Gun: Maverick, F1 features incredibly well shot racing sequences; perhaps the best ever shot on screen. It also features a beautiful soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, and a compelling redemption story.

For its one-of-a-kind experience, F1 managed to generate 17 Cr worth of footfalls at the Pakistani box office.

8. Neelofar – PKR 10 Crore

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s first romantic film was always going to tug at the heartstrings, and it did enough to mint a respectable total at the local box office. Neelofar’s 10 Cr total is just the latest figure we have; it’s still running in theaters.

9. Ballerina – PKR 7.5 Crore

From the world of John Wick, this film starring Ana De Armas minted more than a few paisas at the box office. Ballerina, according to reports by Box Office Mojo, collected 7.5 Cr. According to the same source, John Wick: Chapter 4 collected nearly the same total from Pakistan in 2024. That means nearly the entire audience of the John Wick franchise in Pakistan showed up for Ballerina.

10. How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action) – PKR 4.3 Crore

The live action remake of How to Train Your Dragon performed very well at the international box office, though it was probably not as beloved as the original animated film. Fans in Pakistan also came out to watch the remake and generated footfalls of over 4 Cr.

At a time when the local box office is slumbering, Indian Punjabi films are keeping it afloat. ‘Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Ni Aunda’ has emerged as a big hit at the local box office, surpassing the PKR 15 crore milestone in Pakistan. As per the distributors, the film has so far generated around PKR 15.30 crore at Pakistani box office.

The film, stars Pakistan’s Imran Ashraf and India’s Jassie Gill as the main leads. Not only has it received decent reviews, but it has also minted a respectable total at the box office. This is a continuing trend for Indian Punjabi movies in Pakistan.

Earlier this year, the Diljit Dosanjh and Hani Aamir starrer “Sardaar Ji 3” minted over PKR 50 crore at the Pakistani box office this year and emerged as the highest grossing Indian Punjabi film in the country. Last year, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Jatt and Juliet 3’ minted over PKR 16 crore at the box office. Similarly, in 2023, ‘Carry On Jatta 3’ also generated close to PKR 30 crore in Pakistan.

With Punjab currently having the biggest share in screens nationwide, there is clearly a big market in Pakistan for Indian Punjabi films. Their light hearted humour and relatable comedy keep filling seats across Pakistan.

Hania Amir and Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ continues its record-breaking streak at the Pakistani box office. The film has surpassed the PKR 50 crore milestone and overtaken the domestic gross of Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s ‘Love Guru’ (PKR 44 crore).

‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has grossed PKR 51.4 crore from Pakistan so far, becoming the third film after ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2’ and ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ to hit the PKR 50 crore mark at the Pakistani box office. The film has performed exceptionally well in overseas too, where it grossed PKR 175.43 crore, taking its worldwide tally to PKR 226.83 crore.

The film has become the all-time highest-grossing Indian film in Pakistan and has emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year so far at the Pakistani box office, a title unlikely to be taken away for the remaining months of the year.

Despite the release of ‘Chal Mera Putt 4’ on Friday, the film still maintains a good number of shows in Punjab. With its current momentum, it’s not surprising if it crosses the PKR 60 crore mark in Pakistan.

Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s film ‘Love Guru’ has achieved a new milestone by surpassing PKR 80 crore worldwide, becoming Humayun Saeed’s first feature to reach this mark. It’s also the first film for director Nadeem Baig, ARY Films, and Six Sigma Plus to hit the PKR 80 crore ceiling.

‘Love Guru’ has grossed PKR 44 crore from the domestic market and PKR 36.1 crore from overseas, taking the worldwide gross to PKR 80.1 crore.

The film has become the second-highest-grossing Pakistani film worldwide after ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ (inflation not adjusted). With no other major local films releasing in the coming months, ‘Love Guru’ can already be declared the highest-grossing Pakistani film of the year.

However, with a domestic gross of PKR 44 crore, it might not retain the title of highest-grossing film of the year in Pakistan, as Hania Amir and Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has also crossed PKR 40 crore in Pakistan and is now on its way to surpass Love Guru’s domestic gross.

‘Love Guru’ is expected to end its run in Pakistan around PKR 45 crore. The film is already being shown at limited venues with fewer number of shows due to the influx of summer blockbusters like ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, ‘Superman’, ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’. It will get further affected by the release of the Punjabi film ‘Chal Mera Putt 4’ coming Friday.

The Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Amir-starring Indian Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has achieved a new milestone, surpassing the PKR 30 crore mark and raking in over PKR 31 crore to date, beating the lifetime business of ‘Carry On Jatta 3’ in Pakistan.

According to available data, the Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa-starring ‘Carry On Jatta 3’ crossed PKR 28 crore in Pakistan by August 2023. Given its longer theatrical run and re-release in 2024 due to a lack of competition from local cinema, it’s estimated that the film may have ended its lifetime closer to PKR 30 crore.

‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has not only crossed the PKR 30 crore mark but remains steady at the Pakistani box office with a maximum number of shows and good occupancy even in its third week. The film’s dominance is expected to continue, and the film is likely to create more box office records for any Indian or any foreign film in Pakistan.

Pakistanis have not just showered their love on Hania Amir’s film in Pakistan but have also contributed a huge business in overseas markets like UK, UAE, and Norway where the Pakistani diaspora has a good presence. The film hasn’t been released in India, but in overseas it has done remarkably well and has already become the only Indian Punjabi film after Diljit’s previous ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’ to cross INR 50 crore mark. According to Pinkvilla, the film has grossed $6 million (INR 51 crore) in overseas markets in just fifteen days.

“Love Guru” and “Deemak” successfully brought audiences back to cinemas on Eid-ul-Azha and maintained the momentum even after the Eid holidays. However, with the release of Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Amir’s Indian Punjabi film “Sardaar Ji 3” on Friday, shows of the two local Eid releases and other foreign films were significantly reduced to accommodate the overwhelming demand for the latest release.

While “Sardaar Ji 3” had a record-breaking opening weekend of PKR 10.9 crore in Pakistan with a maximum number of shows, the holdover local releases continued to add to their tally and showed no signs of slowing down.

Love Guru

The Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Amir starrer ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has taken a record-breaking start at the Pakistani box office. The film earned PKR 3.15 crore on Friday, PKR 4 crore on Saturday, and PKR 3.75 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total to PKR 10.9 crore.

‘Sardaar Ji 3’ now holds the record of biggest opening weekend in Pakistan for an Indian Punjabi film, breaking the record previously held by Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Carry On Jatta 3‘, which collected PKR 7.25 crore over the extended Eid weekend.

After the massive weekend opening, the film’s footfalls on Monday are going to be very decisive for its first week’s gross. If the film maintains momentum during the weekdays, it might surpass the lifetime business of Diljit’s previously highest-grossing film in Pakistan, ‘Jatt & Juliet 3‘, by the end of the week.

However, the film won’t benefit from the upcoming weekend in Pakistan since most cinemas will remain closed due to Ashura (9th and 10th of Muharram). The film’s performance from the second Monday onwards will be crucial in determining whether it can surpass the lifetime business of ‘Carry On Jatta 3’ (PKR 28 crore) to claim the position of the highest-grossing Indian Punjabi film in Pakistan.
