‘The Donkey King’ Set for Another Historic Weekend

Talisman Studios seem to have hit the jackpot with their debut animation feature The Donkey King. While the movie had a record smashing opening weekend, collections thenceforth have also remained on the strong side over the weekdays, collecting daily figures of around 30 lacs during the period. The aggregate first week collections were recorded at around 4 crores, which is again another record for domestic or foreign animation films in Pakistan.

All indications point out that the film is set to repeat its blockbuster opening weekend performance over the second weekend. Major theater chains have recorded sold out shows and the reports from the audience as well as the critics are generally positive. On its second Friday, The Donkey King collected 80 lacs, and if it shows the usual weekend growth trends, it is set to collect in the 2.6 – 3 crore range. The film is expected to cross the 10 crore mark and will be an excellent conclusion to what has been a tremendously successful year for Pakistani cinema.
