With the emergence and revival of Pakistan’s long lost local film industry and growth in production volume, opportunities have expanded for artists from TV, theatre and fashion industry to join the growing league of film actors. Last year the likes of Maya Ali, Hajra Yamin and Adnan Malik made impactful debuts on cinema screens. This year too, like previous one, a good number of already recognized faces are set to debut in movie industry and entire film fraternity and their fans are waiting for them to prove their worth on celluloid. Here’s your intro to al the prominent names making their first film appearance in 2019.
1- Farhan Saeed
“Suno Chanda” famed singer and actor Farhan Saeed started his career with JAL- the band by replacing Atif as lead band vocalist and became an overnight singing sensation with Lux Style Award winning song “Sajni”. Farhan later made his acting debut with Fahim Burney’s drama serial “De Ijazat Jo Tu” and starred opposite Sohai Ali Abro. After some forgettable acting performances, the singer finally proved his acting metal last year with HUM TV’s chartbuster drama serial “Suno Chanda”. Farhan is now debuting to films as lead actor in his own home production “Tich Button”.
2- Eshal Fayyaz
Model turned actor Eshal Fayyaz made her acting debut with HUM TV’s drama serial “Tabeer”. The actress has later baged lead role in Punjab Nahi Jaungi’s writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s passionate project “Kaaf Kangana”. Eshal is replacing Urwa Hocane in this debut film by Khalil as director.
3- Shahzad Roy
The ever young Shahzad Roy, country’s one of most famous pop singers has been active in his philanthropic work lately. He will be one of leads in upcoming film “Alif Aur Noon” which is film adaptation of a famous drama serial by PTV. It would be intresting to see an established star like Shahzad making his film debut.
4- Zara Noor Abbas
Zara Noor Abbas carries genes for acting talent from her maternal family. The daughter of Asma Abbas and niece of Bushra Ansari, Zara made her acting debut through HUM TV and has made a huge fan following in a very short span of time with chartbuster drama serial “Khaamoshi”. Zara has two films on her plate, “Paray Hut Love” by Asim Raza and an untitled film by Wajahat Rauf. At the moment it is hard to say which one will prove as Zara’s debut film by releasing first but bagging debut with such established directors of fraternity, and co starring with the likes of Mahira Khan and Mehwish Hayat, along with her good looks and acting skills, we are sure that Khamoshi star will go places in future.
5- Asad Sidiqui
Asad, along with her wife Zara Noor is making his film debut with Wajahat Rauf’s film. Asad has recently worked with Wajahat in his web series “Enaaya” and seems like the team has had some great time on sets as Wajahat has almost repeated Enaaya’s cast in his third yet untitled film.
6- Faryal Mehmood
With a web series “Enaaya” and a handful number of TV projects on her credit, Faryal will now be making her big screen debut with Yasra Rizvi’s “Senti Aur Mental”.
7- Zahid Ahmed
The hearthrobe is known for his TV and theatre projects and his fans have been waiting for him to sign a film since long. Finally the actor will be seen on cinema screens in Sohail Javed’s much talked about film “Sorry”.
8- Yashma Gill
Known for her drama serials “Kurbaan”, “Ab Dekh Khuda Kiya Karta Hai” and “Ki Jaanra Mai Koaun”, the sizzling model and actress is making her film debut with Yasir Nawaz’s “Wrong Number 2” and will also feature in a mehndi number along with Neelam Muneer Khan.
9- Azaan Sami Khan
Azaan composed music of last year’s blockbuster “Parwaaz Hai Junoon” and also penned screenplay for Mahira Khan starrer upcoming film “Superstar”. After exploring his talent in music and writing, the star in the making, will now be seen acting in Momina Duraid’s upcoming film “Patakh De”, the official announcement for which will be made shortly.
10- Zaara Abid
The bold and beautiful Zaara Abid is a reknowned face of fashion industry. Zara is now making her film debut with Azeem Sajjad’s upcoming project “Chaudhry” which is based on the life of slain police officer, Chaudhry Aslam Khan.
11- Aabi Khan
Son of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, Aabi Khan will be making his film debut this year with “Kaaf Kangana”. Aabi was previousely seen in Khalil’s drama serial “Laal Ishq”, a sequal to his 2002’s hit serial “Landa Bazaar”.
12- Eman Suleman
Eman made her screen debut with Sarmad Khoosat’s TV play “Aakhri Station”. The sizzling beauty is now making her silver screen debut with the very same director through his punjabi film “Ishq Tamasha
13- Hamza Firdous
Son of legendary actor Firdous Jamal, Hamza Firdous got fame through 2017’s TV project “O Rangreza”, where he shared screen space with Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan. With his currently on aired TV project “Seerat” already creating waves, Hamza is about to step into films this year with upcoming crime thriller film “Aashiq”.
