Box Office: ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Launches in Pakistan with Terrific Numbers

“Hobbs & Shaw” has clearly struck a chord with Pakistani cine-goers. The film raked in 3.2 crores on opening day (including Thursday night shows). The Fast & Furious spin-off featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham, and Idris Elba opened to packed houses on August 2nd.

As per estimates by Entertainment Pakistan, the film grossed 58 Lacs from Thursday night previews and 2.64 Cr on Friday for a total of 3.2 Cr. That makes it the third all time highest opening day gross for an English language film in the country, behind “Avengers: Endgame” and “Fast and The Fate of the Furious” (Fast 8). It’s also the fourth largest opening day gross over all, including Pakistani and Indian films.

At this rate, the film is expected to gross around 8 Cr in its opening weekend. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess how Hobbs & Shaw will fare in it’s lifetime at the local box office.
