Poster Reveal: ‘Lafangey’ Arouses Much Curiosity

We keep a close eye on new movie posters here at PakistaniCinema, for they are crucial towards creating first impressions, which as they say, last forever. The snazzy poster art for the upcoming horror-comedy ‘Lafangey’ caught our eye. Sporting a retro-style look, it is ticking all of our boxes with its iconic horror movie promotional-material conventions, sparking much interest in our minds about the film’s storyline.

Ticks the right boxes

Evil-looking kids clinging to bedposts? Check. Creepy mansion with cobwebs, candelabras, and a smoldering fire? Check. Our heroes in trouble? Check! The artwork gives a good flavor of what’s on offer, adhering to genre conventions while featuring the film’s ensemble cast quite prominently at the same time. Sami Khan, Saleem Mairaj, Maani, and Mubeen Gabol are the four main male protagonists here, and they seem to be holding onto dear life as Nazish Jahangir looks on with a mysterious grin. And then there’s Behroze Sabzwari’s ancient-looking portrait in a gilded frame, casting his watchful gaze (from beyond the grave, we’d wager) on all the madness that is unfolding.

All of this is bathed in a gold and yellow color palette that quite effectively accentuates the otherworldly theme of the film, while the ensemble cast’s expressions hint at the comedic angle.

Contemporary meets vintage

Overall, we’d say that while the artwork looks very contemporary, its color palette along with the deep-red curtains, candelabras, and the iron-bedposts featured give it a rather vintage vibe that we love. This poster piques our curiosity quite a bit and makes us all the more eager for the film’s trailer.

The crew behind the project

Beyond all that, a look at the credits tells us that the film will be featuring music by Adnan Dhool (lead vocalist of Soch band), Rabi Ahmed, and Sohail Haider, while Asraad Khan (‘Chhalawa’, ‘Bachaana’) is the director of photography. ‘Lafangey’ is directed by Abdull Khaaliq Khan, who also shares the writing credits for the project along with Jahangir Hussain. The film is set to release this summer.
