Here is the Spectacular Line-up of Films that Release in February

While the Covid-19 pandemic persists, cinemas nationwide continue to remain open and the general outlook for the exhibition sector is markedly better than the previous two years. In the second month of the current year, movie studios worldwide are ready to roll out a wide slate of releases, with genres catering to the entire variety of audience tastes and preferences. February will bring a bit of everything to theaters in the country, such as a sci-fi disaster movie, a comedy movie about ridiculous stunts, a mystery thriller, as well as a movie based on a video game series, and much more. Here’s a snapshot of what’s on offer!

Moonfall

Releases on February 4

Disaster movie auteur Roland Emmerich (‘Independence Day,’ ‘The Day After Tomorrow’) has his pyroclastic designs this time set on — no prizes for guessing — the Moon, which in the movie is knocked out of its orbit putting the Earth on the brink of a catastrophe like no other. Hollywood last blew up the moon in 2013’s ‘Oblivion’, however ‘Moonfall’ features an entirely different scenario with a team from NASA embarking on a do-or-die mission to save humanity. If you enjoy larger-than-life sci-fi thrills with cutting-edge CGI effects, look no further. Stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley.

Jackass Forever

Releases on February 4

Johnny Knoxville and his crazy band of pranksters are back in action after a hiatus of a decade with ‘Jackass Forever.’ Expect more insane stunts, their unique brand of humor, and more wildly absurd on-screen antics. The film will also feature some new cast members.

Death on the Nile

Releases on February 11

Take a trip back to the 1930s in this modern retelling of mystery doyen Agatha Christie’s novel. Tom Bateman, Anne Benning, and Gal Gadot star as leads in the film, with a story that revolves around a newlywed couple’s honeymoon in Egypt going tragically wrong. ‘Death on the Nile’ is directed by Kenneth Brannagh, and is a follow up to his 2017 feature ‘Murder on The Orient Express.’

Project Gemini

Releases on February 11

After ‘Moonfall,’ sci-fi buffs will be in for another treat with ‘Project Gemini,’ a Russian production that sees an elite space mission traveling to a distant planet with the aim of terraforming it. However, all is not as it seems and the space crew encounters another entity with apparently its own plans for the planet. Sounds intriguing enough? We sure want to check this Serik Beyseu directed venture out!

Ayla: The Daughter of War (Turkish, with Urdu voiceover)

Releases on February 11

‘Ayla’ is an acclaimed film from Turkey about a Turkish army sergeant who rescues an orphaned girl in the middle of the Korean War in the 1950s. It was a box-office hit in Turkey and also did well in Germany and South Korea. This heartwarming war drama will be released with an Urdu voiceover for audiences in Pakistan.

Ambulance

Releases on February 18

Director Michael Bay made his name with blockbuster spectacles like ‘Armageddon’ and the ‘Transformers’ franchise, and 2022 sees him back in action with ‘Ambulance,’ a high-on adrenaline action thriller revolving around robbers stealing an ambulance when their heist goes disastrously wrong. The film stars Jack Gyllenhaal, Eiza Gonzales, and Devan Chandler Long and is a remake of a 2005 Danish film with the same name.

Uncharted

Releases on February 18

‘Uncharted’ brings to screen the epic adventure of two treasure hunters played by Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, on a quest of a lifetime to find Ferdinand Magellan’s lost fortune. With names such as Antonio Banderas and Sophia Ali among its cast members, the film is sure to offer big-budget, edge-of-the-seat thrills to younger audiences and adults alike.
