Famous music video director Saqib Malik’s big screen Debut “Baji” has become quite a talk of the town ever since their was news of the film going on floors. From rumors of the film being based on Meera’s journey to stardom to some major cast reshuffles, we have been hearing quite a lot about it in the last couple of months . And just when we thought it has all settled down, our sources prove us wrong with the news of yet another cast reshuffle .
News has it that Humaima Malick has been replaced by none other than dark beauty of ‘Zinda Bhaag’ , Amna Ilyas. Earlier , Mawra Hocane was supposed to play the pivotal role who was later replaced by Humaima and now the tables have turned in Amna Ilyas’s favour, who is already starring in “Ready Steady No” which is intended to release later this year. While Humaima’s fans may be disappointed at the development ,their is a genuine reason to rejoice for Amna’s followers.
The reason behind this latest developement is still unknown however we hope “Baji” sees the light of day asap as film’s first spell was already completed in Shogran.
Saqib Malik ,brother of “Sadqey Tumharey” star Adnan Malik, is known for bringing us visual treats like Fuzon’s “Khamaj”, Ali Zafar’s “Dekha jo” and promotional video of Reema Khan’s “Love Mein Gum” and is one of the few music video and ad directors to venture into film making following the recent revival of Pakistani cinema. His debut is a litmus test for his future in film industry. Earlier ad film maker, Asad ulhaq’s audio visual treat “Dekh magar pyar se” received mixed to bad reviews from critics and audiences, while Ahsan Raheem’s “Teefa in Trouble” is already on its way to be amongst the highest grossers of Pakistani Cinema.
How Saqib malik’s “Baji” is received remains to be seen, the question however at this stage is whether “Baji” would see its completion anytime soon?
