With the current spate of successes for Pakistani cinema, the film industry is abuzz with activity, and every passing week witnesses the launch of a promising new venture. The latest addition is the police-force biopic titled “Chaudhry” which is set to be directed by Azeem Sajjad, who previously enjoyed a successful stint as a television actor and more recently directed “8969”. Sajjad exclusively revealed to PakistaniCinema.net, that Chaudhry is based on the life of the illustrious police officer Chaudhry Aslam Khan, who was assassinated by extremist elements in 2014. Being penned by Zeeshan Junaid, the movie also incorporates fictional elements into its narrative to give the film a wider mainstream appeal, while the original essence of the Khan’s life story has been retained.
Coming to the all-important question of the lead actors, Sajjad revealed that the beautiful Zara Abid has been finalized as the female lead whereas a couple of names are being considered for the male protagonist. There are also actors like Adnan Shah Tippu, Amir Qureshi and Danish Nawaz in the cast of this biopic. The pre-production for the movie is complete and the production is set go on the floors very soon.
In an important step, the Pakistan police is providing its full logistical resource support to the film crew. The film will also apparently stay away from controversies given that the family of the late Chaudhry Aslam Khan has been taken on board and has given the film their blessings.
We look forward to hearing more on this promising new production. Watch this space for more updates on this film, and more, from PakistaniCinema.net in the very near future!
