LUMS Film Society organized two day “Filum festival” this weekend at Alhamra arts and cultural complex, Lahore. The event was more anticipated among movie buffs as the cast and teaser of upcoming local action-thriller Laal Kabootar were announced to be releasing on the very same festival. Pakistani Cinema got to cover the event and here are details. The teaser trailer and cast of the the film were revealed last night on first day of festival and the lead cast includes reknowned actors Mansha Pasha and Ahmad Ali Akbar.
Mansha made her cinema debut with 2017’s Chalay Thay Saath while Ahmed debuted into films with IRK production’s horror flick Siyaah and was last seen on big screen in a boxoffice hit by same production house Parchi. Debutant director Kamal Khan (who won LSA award for his music video) and other members of this edge of the seat thriller were also present at the event. Film has been produced by young brother and sister Kamil Chima and Hania Chima, who are nephew and niece of famous lawyer barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and that made Aitzaz and his wife Bushra Aitzaz (PCB’s women wing chairperson) attend the event.
Talking about the film, the cast gave a slight idea about the characters they are playing in the film. Mansha Pasha plays Aliya Malik, whose life is turned upside down and now she is at a point where she can either accept her fate, or take it in her own hands. The charismatic Ahmed Ali Akbar will be seen playing Adeel, a hustling taxi-driver who is looking for a way out of Karachi. Along with Mansha and Ahmed, Ali Kazmi is also playing a pivotal part in the film. Teaser reflected how these different characters are facing different issues in their lives and how they come across each other incidentally.
