“Project Ghazi” is one film which has been on our radar for quite some time now. The film starred big names Shehryar Munawar and Humayun Saeed alongside Saira Shehroz and Adnan Jaffar, and its trailer featured some slick VFX and futuristic action sequences. Based on the super-hero antics of an elite commando from a secretive army unit, the movie created some buzz prior to its original release date on July 14, 2017.
However, fans expecting to catch a glimpse of indigenous sci-fi were in for an anti-climax when the movie’s release was postponed at its premiere. Reportedly, Humayun Saeed along with the rest of cast walked out of the theater, citing inadequate post-production that ruined the viewing experience. Later, Shehryar Munawar explained in an interview that “Apparently there was a disagreement between the producer and the director. The cut that we saw at the premiere was the producer’s cut. If a film is being made by a director who’s directed the whole thing and he doesn’t work on the post (production), obviously, stuff is going to happen.”
Well, it turns out things have finally fallen into place for the Nadir Shah helmed project to see the light of the day. As per EPK, the film is slated to release on March 22, over the Pakistan day weekend. It is being distributed by IMGC Entertainment.
Here’s hoping the team has utilized the intervening two year period to fix the VFX, sound and the many editing issues that were reported in the version that originally premiered in Karachi in 2017.
