While Indian celebrities have always been quite vocal on the political matters particularly Kashmir supporting their national interests, Pakistani celebs on contrary remain on the safer side most of the time. This was also observed recently when not even a single statement of condemnation came out from Pakistani showbiz industry over the disturbing prevalent situation in Kashmir.
Just yesterday Hamza Ali Abbasi called out the hypocrisy of our celebs, asking the reason of their silence whether it was lack of their knowledge on the issue or fear of losing their chances of work in India and annoying their Indian fan base.
(1/3) I appeal to all Pakistani artists, especially those with the most following on social media, ask urselves with utmost sincerity tht why do u not raise a voice for KASHMIR? Is it bcz u genuinely think it won't make a difference? Or…. #KashmirUnderThreat

(2/3) or u really believe tht ur not factually aware enough to make ur mind/give any comment on this matter? Or is it bcz u dont want to get involved in this bcz it.ll effect ur Indian fan following or future work prospects thr? Plz hear me out as i mean this in good will and…

(3/3) If in ur heart u realise tht thr is zulm on a mass scale in our very backyard & u shud raise a voice (thts the least we can do) but u still stay silent, then rmembr tht this fan following will become ur biggest trial & u.ll be answerable for this silence infront of ur Lord.

Hamza’s these tweets served was a wake up call for fraternity. As a result, many of the big names like Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Mawra Hocane, Ushna Shah, Hareem Farooq, Kubra Khan, Armeena, Mansha Pasha, Faysal Qureshi, Shamoon Abbasi, Adnan Malik, Ahmed Ali Butt and Feroze Khan came forward to raise voice against India’s brutality, calling out the world not to stay silent on the threat faced by Kashmir.

The use of cluster bombs in Kashmir is in clear violation of the Geneva Convention. There is no justification for it whatsoever. These are simple war crimes – the world has to wake up and put a stop to these atrocities NOW! #SaveKashmirSOS #KashmirBleeds

These are dark times for Kashmir. Panic created, troops built up, section 144 imposed, internet cut, Indian tourists asked to leave. May there be peace in Kashmir, may sanity prevail and may the international community take notice. #IStandWithKashmir #kashmirbleeds

Shaan too tweeted on the matter, saying his family was spreading the message of freedom for Kashmir since 1971. By this Shaan is pointing towards the film “Ye Aman” made by his father Riaz Shahid on the similar issue.
Our family has been spreading the message of #freeKashmir from the brutalities of India since 1971. #yehAmanfilmpk1971 I have inherited this responsibility ,to spread the message ,through my art InshaALLAH . yehAman2.. #47yrsoffreedom
