Aziz Jindani’s animated satire, “The Donkey King” is undoubtedly one of the most talked about films from Pakistan’s new wave of cinema and it holds multiple records. It stands as the highest grossing animated film at the Pakistani box office. It’s also the most searched Pakistani film of 2018 on google and Its title song “Donkey Raja” has gained the highest ever views on YouTube for any Pakistani film song.
After so much success in Pakistan, “The Donkey King” has now achieved another distinction by releasing in South Korea this weekend. It was released to more than a hundred screens with a version dubbed in the regional language. However, Pakistani cinema’s first representative in South Korea has not been able to launch with reasonable numbers, mainly due to the fact that it was released on working day. The film has collected 25 lacs during the first three days of it release. Below is the breakdown of film’s weekend gross with the number of screens:
Wednesday: 6.2 lacs (117 screens)
Thursday: 6.4 lacs (123 screens)
Friday: 6.5 lacs (98 screens)
Weekend Total: 25 lacs PKR (Previews Added)
We hope that the film shows upward trend on Saturday and Sunday and then holds well during the weekdays.
