EXCLUSIVE: Humayun Saeed’s Next is “London Nahi Jaunga”

2019 is almost concluding and it’s no secret that the year has proven quite dull, specially when we compare it with the outstanding 2018. Even the most exciting cinema holiday of the year, Eid-ul-Azha failed to witness a single blockbuster hit and film trade and movie buffs equally noticed the absence of Sixth Sigma Plus and Filmwala Pictures as the buzz and money their films generate is unequalled.

While we were grieving at the dull cinema year, the filmmakers of both production houses on the other hand took this year as a resting phase during which they prepared to ensure the next year would be bigger and better. Both production teams went through multiple scripts, considered some, rejected others and made sure to design a schedule so as to make multiple releases possible. This bodes well for Pakistani cinema which has suffered losses this year due to ban on Bollywood films.

While producer Fizza Ali Meerza of Filmwala Pictures has garnered attention by recently announcing two films for 2020, namely “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad” and “Fat-man”, nothing had been heard from team Sixth Sigma. The two projects that were previously on the cards, i-e, “Love You Jatta” written by Vasay Chaudhry and “Loafar” by Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, couldn’t materialize as the former got shelved for an indefinite time period and the latter has been turned down by production house due to creative disagreements. Qamar will now produce that script on his own.

So what’s next for team Humayun?? Well, the production is currently working on multiple scripts with different writers, like Vasay Chaudhry, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar and Zanjabeel Asim Shah. Talking exclusively to Pakistani Cinema, Humayun Saeed revealed that the film that will go on floors first is Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s script. Film is titled “London Nahi Jaunga” and from its title it appears to be the sequel of “Punjab Nahi Jaungi”. Humayun, however, clarified that it’s not a sequel and is an altogether a different story.

Film is said to be an all-in-all family entertainer with elements of comedy, romance and drama, something along the lines of “Punjab Nahi Jaungi”. Female lead of the film is yet to locked.

The film will be directed by Nadeem Baig. This isn’t the first time that Nadeem Baig, Khalil ur Rehman and Humayun Saeed will be collaborating as the trio has previously given us the 2017’s highest grosser “Punjab Nahi Jaungi”. Their recent collaboration for TV, “Mery Paas Tum Ho” has already shattered some TRP records with its initial episodes. Now with such a successful track record, this project can definitely be considered a tent pole film for next year.

“London Nahi Jaunga” is scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Azha, a release date that has proven lucrative for Humayun Saeed’s production house.
