Eid-ul-Fitr has always been an ideal time for cinema business in South Asia. Every year some major films from Bollywood and Pakistani cinema are released but it gets more intense on this side of the border. Every film producer wants to cash in on the festive occasion and every year a good number of films fight to get into the Eid race. Only three to four films ultimately get locked.
A few months ago we updated you about the films that are expected for Eid-ul-Fitr. Two of these films , “Kamli” and “Sorry Baba”, are co-productions by Distribution Club and were tentatively planned for release on Eid. However, due to recent developments, there has been a major change in Distribution Club’s slate.
A reliable source close to the distribution company has informed PakistaniCinema.Net that while “Kamli” is still slated for Eid release, there is no chance for “Sorry Baba”. The reason cited is that the shooting for that film has yet to begin. The source also revealed that the company will now come up with another much bigger film. Distribution Club will now release the Fawad Khan starrer “Money Back Guarantee” on Eid, along with the Sarmad Khoosat directed “Kamli”.
The source also states that “a deal has been signed between producers of the film and Distribution Club. As per the deal, makers of film will be given a minimum guarantee of 5 crore Rupees”.
Talking about the two locked films, “Kamli” has entered its post production phase after its camera being closed in December. “Money Back Guarantee”, on the other hand, is still in the production phase, having completed 75 percent of its shoot with the first spell that wrapped in November. The film stars Fawad Khan, Wasim Akram, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Kiran Malik in lead roles.
