Amna Ilyas and Affan Waheed to Star in Film, Titled “Mastani”

If we have to pick one actor who promises to become a future big name in the industry, it’s Amna Ilyas. From her realistic performance in “Zinda Bhaag” to the glamourous screen diva in “Baaji”, Amna has done it all with just a few projects. We at Pakistani Cinema also included her in our list of stars who outshone the rest in 2019.

After a very active 2019 with “Baaji” and “Ready Steady No”, we were looking forward to the next project of Amna. And to our surprise, Amna’s next film has been on floors since last December. The film is titled “Mastani” and it stars TV’s celebrated actor Affan Waheed.

Affan is known for his innumerable successful TV serials that include “Meray Qatil, Meray Dildar” (HUM TV), “Guzarish” (ARY Digital), “Khamoshi” (HUM TV) and last year’s chartbuster serials for ARY Digital, “Do Bol” and “Bhool”. With so many popular serials to his credit, Affan is now all set to make his cinematic debut.

Speaking to Pakistani Cinema, Affan described this project as “a very interesting one. People might think it’s a light hearted romantic comedy but it’s a lot more than just that. Once I started reading this script I was totally engrossed as it has suspense, drama, satire and so much”.

While Affan will play a kind hearted and humble guy, Amna will be seen playing a very flamboyant and head strong character. What the two characters will have in common is the urge to make a difference by doing something good for those who are in need.

The film’s story is based in the city of Rawalpindi and so the crew has been shooting near Islamabad since December. They are now about to wrap the first spell of around thirty five days; this week. The film’s last spell of seven days will be shot later in March and during that the team will also shoot a five day schedule in Karachi.

“Mastani” is written, directed and produced by US based filmmaker Usman Rizvi and this will be his debut project in Pakistan. Music of the film is composed by Naveed Nashad.

The film is expected to release in summer this year.
