Box Office: “London Nahi Jaunga”, “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad” and “Thor” Get Bumper Opening

The Eid-ul-Azha 2022 was much anticipated as two tentpole films of the industry “London Nahi Jaunga” and “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad” were to finally release after much delays due to Covid-19. Besides these two much awaited local films, Marvel’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” also released this Friday. The three films set the box office ablaze during the Eid holidays as all the shows at most of the locations went houseful. The cinema business during the three days of Eid remained more than 16 crores PKR which is the third biggest Eid weekend after Eids of 2017 and 2018. Let’s have a look at the box office numbers of all Eid releases.

London Nahi Jaunga

The Nadeem Baig directed was open for public premieres on Friday and Saturday with limited shows and managed to collect 30 lacs PKR from previews. Film opened nationwide on Sunday (Eid Day 1) and minted 1.85 crore PKR. It then showed a growth of nearly 40% on Eid’s second day as it collected 2.55 crore PKR. On 3rd day of Eid it raked in 2.8 crore PKR, taking its Eid weekend total to 7.5 crore PKR.

THOR: Love and Thunder

The Chris Hemsworth starrer was long awaited in Pakistan among all Marvel fans. The film released in cinemas across Punjab and Sindh on Friday while due to delays by CBFC, film couldn’t release in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. According to BoxOfficeDetail, film collected 3.6 crore PKR over the weekend and 1.3 crore PKR on Monday (Eid Day 2) and 1.4 crore PKR on Tuesday (Eid Day 3). It raked in a total of 6.3 crore PKR in five days.

Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad

The Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan starrer had a nationwide release on Sunday (Eid Day 1) but from limited public premiere shows on Friday and Saturday at selected locations, it managed to earn 20 lacs PKR. On Eid Day 1, it opened to collections of 1.2 crore and on Eid’s second day it then showed a growth of more than 40% by minting 1.7 crore PKR. On third day of Eid it showed further growth and collected 1.95 crore PKR, taking its Eid holidays business to 5.05 crore PKR.

Lafangey

After a ban and then clearance from Central Board of Film Censors at eleventh hour, the Sami Khan starrer was finally released in cinemas on Sunday. The film, however, suffered due to tough competition with three giant films as it could not get reasonable shows anywhere. The shows it got were mostly at odd timings (too early in the morning or too late at night) and at places, the shows were even cancelled at last moment to accommodate the overwhelming demand of other three films. According to estimates by BoxOfficeDetail, film collected 30 lacs PKR on Sunday, 32 lacs PKR on Monday and 42 lacs PKR on Tuesday. It has managed to collect a total of 1.04 crore PKR over the Eid holidays.
