Rawalpindi Express: Here’s Everything We Know About Biopic On Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar took to Instagram and Twitter handles recently to announce that a biopic on his life is being made and is currently in production. “Beginning of this beautiful journey. Announcing the launch of my story, my life, my Biopic, RAWALPINDI EXPRESS – Running against the odds. You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. The first foreign film about a Pakistani Sportsman. Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar,” he wrote revealing the motion poster of the film.

The few seconds long motion poster sees Shoaib Akhtar running on a misty railway track, with sound effects of train siren blowing, the poster introduces the film title “Rawalpindi Express-Running Against The Odds” and than the frame zooms in to reveal the release date to be 16th November 2023.

Produced by Q films productions, the film will be directed by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser a Dubai based filmmaker. According to Gulf News the film is an ode to the fastest delivery Shoaib bowled at 161.3 km/ph during a 2003 World Cup group match against England. The film will be shot in Pakistan, UAE and Australia .

The director of the film also took to Instagram to reveal that the film’s idea occurred to him in 2016.

In an interview he revealed that the idea stemmed from his father Qaiser Nawaz and made its roots stronger in him as he got more inspired when he saw Shoaib Akhtar talk about his journey in one of his interviews. Five years down the research, Faraz finally reached out to Shoaib Akhtar in 2020 with his father who has written the film and after extensive discussions Shoaib agreed to the idea.

The star cast of the film hasn’t been revealed yet. Here’s wishing the team best luck for the film.
