Earlier in November last year, it was announced that singer and actor Umair Jaswal will play the role of Shoaib Akhtar in his biopic, titled “Rawalpindi Express”. The film was scheduled to go on floors in December with a release plan of November 2023.
The latest on the project is that Umair Jaswal quits the project that would have marked his first film as lead actor. Jaswal took to social media to make this announcement in words: “Due to creative and personal reasons, I have decided to step away from the Shoaib Akhtar biopic project RAWALPINDI EXPRESS. I will no longer be associated with any media or news related to this project. Wishing everyone involved all the best”.
The biopic is written by Qaiser Nawaz and would be directed by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser. Now who will step in to play Akhtar in this biopic, remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more updates.
