Saim Sadiq’s “Joyland” which is now already shortlisted for Academy awards for the category of ‘Best Foreign Language Film’, released in cinemas across France on 28th December.
The film that has created quite a buzz due to its Cannes win and now holds strong chances for Academy awards nominations, recorded 74,000 admissions in France till third weekend. It had 31,000 admissions on first week, 27,000 admissions on second week and 16,000 admissions over the third weekend.
Even on its second weekend, it was the only film among top 20 titles to perform better than the first weekend despite the end of holidays.

Film has so far grossed more than $700,000 (more than 16 crore PKR) with a release on more than a 100 screens across France. This is an unprecedented business for a Pakistani feature in France, a record that might stay intact for a good long time.
