Pakistani epic fantasy film ‘Umro Ayyar: A New Beginning’ has finally released in cinemas worldwide. Touted as Pakistan’s most expensive film, even more expensive than ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ if we trust the claims of producers, it has taken a decent start at Pakistani box office. The film, however, has not garnered much attention in overseas.
Business in Domestic Market
Usman Mukhtar and Sanam Saeed starrer released in Pakistan on Eid-ul-Azha on July 17. The film minted around 5.07 crore over the Eid holidays. On 7th day, the film had raked in around 8 crore approximately and on 14th day, after second weekend, it’s total from Pakistan is 10.78 crore PKR.
Although the film has failed to maintain a strong hold post Eid-ul-Azha week, nevertheless, it is the only Eid release that has managed to get shows and is still bringing in decent footfalls after the release of Diljit Dosanjh starrer Indian Punjabi film ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’ which has taken all major shows in Punjab.
Overseas Box Office Collections
‘Umro Ayyar: A New Beginning’ released in overseas markets few days late on July 21, except for UAE where it released on Eid. While film’s collections in UAE can be considered decent, the same enthusiasm was missing in other key markets like UK, North America and Australia.
The film got more than 10,000 admissions in UAE over two weeks which makes its two weeks gross around $95,000 approximately (2.6 crore PKR approx.). In North America, film collected $29,111 (80 lac PKR) over first weekend. Its first weekend collections from UK, Australia and New Zealand were $21,862 (£17,293), $14,156 and $713, respectively.
Worldwide Box Office Collections
While there is no data from KSA and other Gulf markets, the reported total of these overseas markets is around $160k (4.5 crore PKR approx.). And with 10.78 crore from domestic market, the worldwide gross of ‘Umro Ayyar’ is roughly 15.5 crore PKR.
