‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’: A Loveable Affair
Viewers have high expectations when a project is led by Safie Hasan, and here, he is on top of his game. The consistent dramatic moments and confrontations are so impactful that they stay with you after every episode. The makers deserve full marks for selecting a storyline that stands apart from the routine narratives we often see. What is great is that the portrayal of the social issues was done in the correct proportions i.e. neither too direct nor too subtle. So it became easy for the masses to understand and digest. One should applaud Mustaf Afridi for his engaging and to-the-point monologues that were sharp, witty and off course thought-provoking.
The combination of rising star Hamza Sohail and superstar Sajal Aly worked big time. It was a risk but their chemistry came across as organic and natural. Moreover, the father-daughter bond was another highlight of the show. Thankfully ‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’ wasn’t a drag fest. The tactics to fetch TRPs were kept aside and viewers were given the luxury to savour crisp and engaging content.
‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’: Winning Performances
No other actor would have done justice to Meenu except Sajal Aly. She sheds her vanity and transforms into the character like a chameleon. Her eyes do half of her job, she ensures that she makes viewers laugh and moist-eyed. Hamza Sohail too was superb and his pairing with Sajal is one of the major highlights of the enterprise. Mubashir Mehmood got a meaty part, he has a fine screen presence and delivered a fine performance. Samiya Mumtaz had less screen time in the initial episodes but she dominated the proceedings later. Rehan Sheikh’s character looked positive initially but viewers hated him equally once he showed his true colors. Ali Tahir was spot on. The supporting artists were equally good too.
Summing It Up
With an interesting subject in hand ‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’ worked big time with several touching moments, superlative performances and an effort for the betterment of society.
