The Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed starrer ‘Love Guru’ has set a new benchmark at the Pakistani box office with the biggest opening weekend for any Eid release to date.
According to figures shared by the film’s distributors, ‘Love Guru’ raked in a massive PKR 12.8 crore over the Eid holidays in Pakistan alone. The film’s strong performance continued post-Eid, with most shows running to packed houses on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is an encouraging sign for the local film industry and a clear indication that audiences are still ready to watch a romantic comedy if it’s done right.
The film has also performed well internationally. Overseas earnings for the Eid weekend reached PKR 15.4 crore, bringing the total worldwide gross for the opening weekend to an impressive PKR 28.2 crore.
