Last Friday saw the release of three films in the Pakistani cinema market. Thankfully two out of three were local releases, i.e, “Sher Dil” and “Laal Kabootar”. Fortunately both films have successfully brought back cinegoers to otherwise deserted cinemas and have pulled in different types of audiences .
“Sher Dil” remained the first choice of cinegoers nationwide. From multiplexes to single screens, the air force action drama successfully attracted folks to cinema houses throughout the week and raked in a little over 6 crores pkr in week one. The film remained the number one choice yet again today infront of the mega starrer new release “Project Ghazi”.
The film that sustained the second spot at box office throughout last week was “Laal Kabootar”. This Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha starrer crime thriller was meant for a niche audience and it successfully brought in a targeted section of cinegoers to selective cinema venues. The film has raked in 1.26 crore pkr in its first week which is a decent start. The critically acclaimed film of the season now needs to hold well at box office if it is to attain the status of a hit.
