Shoaib Mansoor’s “Verna” courted controversy when it was first released due to its central plot point; Rape. Being written, produced and helmed by the man who had given us “Khuda Kay Liye” and “Bol” and starring Mahira Khan, the film managed to create a lot of hype. Being banned by the censor board a few days prior to its release only to be greenlit at the eleventh hour, brought the film to everyone’s attention.
However, after all the pre-release hype, film released on 17th of Nov, 2017 and opened to a lukewarm response from critics and stoked further debate over its portrayal of a rape victim. It has now been 2 years since its release and it’s finally getting a TV premiere. HUM TV has only hinted at the release date though. For now it’s “Coming Soon”.
The final date will be announced in the coming days. Keep reading this space for more updates.
