Legendary actress Sabiha Khanum passed away in the US on Saturday. She was reported to be suffering from renal disease.
Widely known as “The first lady of Pakistani Cinema” Sabiha ruled the silver screen in 50s, and 60’s. She kept appearing onscreen until ealry 90’s and has various Nigar Awards to her name. In most of her movies, she appeared against her husband, the late Santosh Kumar. Some of her notable films include Gumnaam (1954), Dulla Bhatti (1956), Sarfarosh (1956), Mukhra (1958), and Devar Bhabhi (1967) and “Ek Gunah aur Sahi” (1975) in particular. In addition, the actress appeared on a small screen as well and was awarded “Pride of Performance” the highest Pakistani honor in entertainment in 1986.
