The official trailer for ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ dropped on Saturday and for some reason, it was comforting instead of jarring to someone like me who prefers gritty thrillers like ‘Laal Kabootar’ and off beat biopics like ‘Shah’ over the masala-oriented mass cinema that Pakistan is known for. Yet, after 2 years of cinema closures, delayed release dates and now, film after film being banned, a safe commercial film being released is a comfort.
Starring Saba Qamar, Zahid Ahmed, Syed Jibran and Nayyer Ejaz in lead roles, Ghabrana Nahi Hai is a story that involves politicians, the police, a high-profile wedding, the land mafia, and hijinks. The most intriguing part of the film, since it was announced, has been the name.
“Ghabrana Nahi Hai” was said by Prime Minister Imran Khan a few years ago in an effort to calm his supporters and the general public not to fear the coming storm, whether it was the coronavirus or economic problems. That probably won’t have anything to do with the plot of the movie, at least not directly. However, Ghabrana Nahi Hai the film will probably establish some sort of thematic or cosmetic connection in its own way.
Whatever the case may be, we are looking forward to it.
‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ hits theaters on Eid-ul-Fitr 2022.
