In Conversation with Team “Thori Setting Thora Pyar”

This weekend will see the release of three Pakistani films and we are up for a diverse cinematic experience since all three cater different genres. One of the three films is romantic comedy titled “Thori Setting Thora Pyar”. We at PakistaniCinema.Net got the chance to sit with the team behind the film to talk about their latest offering.

Tariq Awan- the Writer and Producer of Film

Talking about the content of his debut film as writer and producer, Tariq Awan sounds confident. “I have tried to create an original and distinct content, within the rom-com parameters. It contains novel storyline with interesting twists and turns. The pace of the progression of the events is kept fast and movie does not get bogged down in any particular situation. I kept the mood of film ligh and avoided melodrama. It offers genuine and original humour. There is no vulgarity in the comedy and thus it is made to cater the taste of families visiting cinema”, said Awan.

As writer, Tariq claims that he made a deliberate effort to show women of his story in strong characters. Talking about the female protagonists of his film, he said “these women aren’t only intelligent, but they are a support system to each other within a family structure. The main character exhibits how a woman balances her life before and after the marriage”.

Saeeda Imtiaz- the Female Lead

Talking about her character ‘Amal’ in the film, Saeeda told that she plays the role of a university student and described her character as “jhali” and “mast-malang” kind of a person. She also re-iterated what Tariq had mentioned before that the film has a message about women empowerment through her role. Talking about the film, she said, “It’s a laughter therapy and a film for people of all ages”.

Saeeda was last seen in Javed Sheikh’s directorial film “Wajood” opposite Danish Taimoor in lead role. On being asked that how she went for an entirely new team this time after working with seasoned artists in her previous project, she said, “I found the script fascinating; the character was different from all the films I have signed and shot for previously. I was able to relate to Amal’s character as in real life too you will always find me laughing, pranking and joking around. So the script and this character made me sign this project”.

Malik Aqeel- the Male Lead

This is Aqeel’s debut film as lead actor after his appearance in Azfar Jafri’s film “Sherdil” back in 2019. The actor was all praises for his co-star Saeeda. “It’s easier to work with an actor who has already worked in film projects. It was quite a good experience working with her. She is cooperative and fun to work with”. Aqeel then teased Saeeda joking about her eating habit on set “She wants to eat something in middle of shoot”.

About his character, Aqeel said, “My character in the movie is of a struggling singer who achieves   stardom. He is the only son of a business-woman who has returned from abroad to Pakistan”. On being asked about the USP of this film, he replied, “Its music. The music is very good. The music album includes five songs featuring artists like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Amanat Ali. The songs are picturised in un-tapped beautiful locations of Pakistan. I’m sure people will like it”.

Produced under Glass Wings productions, “Thori Setting Thora Pyar” is written and produced by Tariq Awan and is directed Fayyaz Idrees. The cast, besides Saeeda and Aqeel, includes actors like Noman Habib and Laila Zuberi. Film will release in cinemas nationwide on 3rd June by Eveready Pictures.
