Pakistani films have been making their own niche market in international circuits. Among the top remains the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer “The Legend of Maula Jatt” that became the first Pakistani film to cross 1 Million USD in United States of America. In North America, it grossed more than 2 Million USD.
While the records of Maula Jatt are going to stay intact for some good time, there are other Pakistani films that are also doing decent business in US. “Joyland” and “Money Back Guarantee” are running these days in different states of USA.
Pakistan’s first feature film that got shortlisted for Acedemy Awards, “Joyland”, completes its four weeks in theatres across US. It has minted 136,000 USD (3.88 crore PKR) till fourth weekend.
Fawad Khan starrer “Money Back Guarantee” released in US on April 21 and the film has managed a total of 80,000 USD (2.28 crore PKR) till second weekend. Both films, together with limited shows of “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, collectively grossed more than 220,000 USD approximately over the last month.
