Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood debut film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ is all set for a sequel. Released in February, 2016, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ also marked Bollywood debut of Harshavardhan Rane who later got more attention for his Netflix series ‘Haseen Dilruba’.
Despite its lukewarm reception at box office, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ managed to build a loyal fanbase over the years and is now going to be re-released in cinemas this October. The re-release can be attributed to the successful re-run of Tripti Dimri starrer “Laila Majnu”, a film that failed at box office on its first release in 2018 and later carved its own niche upon its digital release.
While the sequel of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ has been officially confirmed, the production house is yet to lock the director. Harshavardhan, however, has been confirmed for the lead role.
Talking about his emotional attachment to the first project, Harsavardhan said: “The love and connection that audiences have shown towards the film over the years is truly humbling. I’m thrilled to be a part of the producer of the original film, Deepak Mukuts sir’s world and bringing a story for you all with a sequel. They are creating something that honours the original while taking the journey forward in an exciting new direction”.
While Harshavardhan is going to reprise his role ‘Inder’ in the sequel, we cannot expect the same for Mawra who played ‘Saru’ in the first film since her character dies in the original film.
