Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s film ‘Love Guru’ has achieved a new milestone by surpassing PKR 80 crore worldwide, becoming Humayun Saeed’s first feature to reach this mark. It’s also the first film for director Nadeem Baig, ARY Films, and Six Sigma Plus to hit the PKR 80 crore ceiling.
‘Love Guru’ has grossed PKR 44 crore from the domestic market and PKR 36.1 crore from overseas, taking the worldwide gross to PKR 80.1 crore.
The film has become the second-highest-grossing Pakistani film worldwide after ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ (inflation not adjusted). With no other major local films releasing in the coming months, ‘Love Guru’ can already be declared the highest-grossing Pakistani film of the year.
However, with a domestic gross of PKR 44 crore, it might not retain the title of highest-grossing film of the year in Pakistan, as Hania Amir and Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has also crossed PKR 40 crore in Pakistan and is now on its way to surpass Love Guru’s domestic gross.
‘Love Guru’ is expected to end its run in Pakistan around PKR 45 crore. The film is already being shown at limited venues with fewer number of shows due to the influx of summer blockbusters like ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, ‘Superman’, ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’. It will get further affected by the release of the Punjabi film ‘Chal Mera Putt 4’ coming Friday.
