‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ (Review): Entertaining, Spooky, and Refreshingly Different

Saife Hassan’s winning streak with HUM TV highlights his consistent talent. With acclaimed hits like Bari Aapa (2012), Sammi (2017), Ehd-e-Wafa (2020), Sang-e-Mah (2022), Zard Patton Ka Bunn (2024), and Tan Man Neel o Neel (2025), his craft has consistently resonated with viewers, proving his deep understanding of the audience’s pulse. After intense outings, he shifts gears and attempts the horror comedy genre with ‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’. He ropes in bankable stars like Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan. The spooky story with a twist of romance and comedy is written by Syed Nabeel. With a strong supporting cast featuring Nadia Afghan, Syed Jibran, Arsalan Naseer, Arbaaz Khan and Tamkenat Mansoor, does Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ give viewers a good time? Let’s analyze.

‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ The Plot:

The story centers on two evil spirits, Aazar (Syed Jibran) and Chamki (Tamkenat Mansoor), who have haunted a mansion for the past two hundred years. The mansion originally belonged to the father of Asad (Arsalan Naseer) and Ali C (Wahaj Ali). After his passing, his will requires that both brothers must live in the mansion for six months to inherit the property. Adding to the challenge, Ali must also get married within that same period. The story drives all the characters into the spooky mansion.  Zara (Sidra Niazi) plays Asad’s wife, while Nadia (Romaisa Khan), a social media influencer, crosses paths with Ali, who is struggling to establish himself as an actor. Khushi (Sehar Khan), another spirit, complicates matters further when she unexpectedly falls in love with Ali.

‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ The Standout Factors:

The writer lays a strong foundation. His story is interesting with well-developed characters allowing every cast member to shine. The humor is massy and the dialogues make you smile and laugh throughout the episode. A nice balance is maintained between comedy, romance, and horror and that is praiseworthy. The dynamics of the evil spirits are well written, like eating 5kgs of mithai (sweet), getting hurt or burnt by the Quranic verses and sitting on big trees, etc. The super natural elements add freshness to the narrative. However some of the sequences defy logic like how come Asad didn’t make any efforts to tell Ali about his father’s death.

Safie Hasan’s dedication to his craft speaks volumes. He not only ensures the entertainment quotient is intact but also pays close attention to making each sequence memorable. To begin with, the set design is impressive—the mansion looks appropriately spooky and complements the overall atmosphere. The horror is handled with maturity, and the visuals on screen feel convincing. The characters are well-executed, and the introduction of the protagonists is both engaging and amusing. Importantly, Hasan resisted the temptation to reveal too much in the teasers and promos; the slow-burning reveal of how the story unfolds is truly commendable.

‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ The Performances:

Full marks to the casting team, as every actor feels perfectly placed. Wahaj Ali delivers a delightful performance; his subtle expressions leave a strong impact, and his comic timing is spot on. After Tan Man Neel O Neel and now Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi, Sehar Khan impresses once again with a refreshing character. Her natural flair is commendable, and it’s praiseworthy how she continues to take on challenging roles so early in her career. Syed Jibran and Tamkenat Mansoor are in terrific form—though not present in every scene, they light up the screen whenever they appear. Arsalan Naseer, as always, is a treat to watch. Sidra Niazi is just okay, while Romaisa Khan is a complete standout as the Instagram influencer. Four episodes in, she hasn’t hit a false note, and her possessed-by-Aazar scenes are an absolute highlight.

‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ Verdict So Far:

On the whole, ‘Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi’ is a loveable ride with ample entertainment quotient. With the perfect blend of horror, comedy and romance, the drama serial has all it takes to be a sure-shot hit.
