After the emotional finale of ‘Main Manto Nahi Hoon’, ARY is rolling out a brand-new tale ‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’. Bringing together the highly anticipated pairing of Hania Aamir and Bilal Abbas Khan, the drama promises chemistry, charm, and compelling storytelling. With acclaimed director Musaddiq Malek (of Habs, Noor Jehan, and Faraar fame) back in the director’s chair and a heartfelt script by Radain Shah, this one’s already shaping up to be a must-watch. It’s time to see whether the first two episodes live up to the expectations. Let’s review.
The Premise
Meri Zindagi Hai Tu opens with a New Year’s Eve, where Kamyar’s (Bilal Abbas Khan) cybertruck nearly misses an accident with Nadir (Atabik Mohsin) and Falak (Mehar Jaffri) ‘s car. After a heated argument, Kamyar slaps Nadir, but Falak steps in, apologizes, and rushes her brother to the hospital. Ayra (Hania Aamir) arrives at the hospital to see his brother Nadir. She’s a well-principled girl and urges him to file a police complaint, but his father, Irfan (Alyy Khan), refuses to do so.
The protagonist, Kamyar, is a filthy-rich, spoiled brat, flirtatious yet adrift, as his parents, played by Arjumand Rahim and Adnan Jaffer, often neglect him. He shows little interest in the family business, and his only genuine bond is with his dadi, played by Shamim Hilaly. In contrast, Ayra comes from a middle-class family; she has a positive mindset and a heart full of compassion.
As the story progresses, Ayra spots Kamyar’s Cybertruck and damages it in anger. In retaliation, he burns her new car. Enraged, Ayra slaps Kamyar, giving him a much-needed reality check. Regretful, he buys her a new car and apologizes, follows her to her medical university to woo her.

Retro Revival Vibes
The story by Radain Shah is simple, despite being based on a premise (super rich vs middle class), a theme that has been done countless times. The drama has taken off with layered and fleshed-out characters. The dialogues and situations are well written. Musaddiq Malek has nothing extraordinary in hand, but he manages well to get a good start. Viewers are all invested in the dynamics of both families. After establishing the characters, Malek wastes no time in getting on point soon. The first sequence in particular is very impressive; what takes the cake is the sequence that no one saw coming. Ayra punctured the Cybertruck’s tires and brushed nail polish all over its window. Also, the debut of Cybertruck in main stream drama is a first, taking the standard of super-rich to another level.

The Performances
Bilal Abbas Khan delivers a nuanced and compelling performance. Known for his chameleon-like ability to slip into any character, he makes viewers forget his past roles and fully invest in Kamyar. With maximum screen time, he scores full marks for his mannerisms, looks, and overall class act.
Hania Aamir complements him well, bringing charm, emotion, and finesse to her character. Her commanding screen presence and impeccable emotional range make her performance stand out. The chemistry between the protagonists is promising, and it will be interesting to see how it develops in the upcoming episodes.

The supporting cast is equally effective. Arjumand Rahim and Adnan Jaffer deliver strong performances, while Aly Khan and Javeria Abbasi are decent as Ayra’s parents. Mehar Jaffri and Atabik Mohsin provide solid support, and Shamim Hilaly, as always, is utterly adorable and sure to win hearts.
Verdict So Far
‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’ opens on a strong note. What makes it intriguing is how Malek approaches a narrative that might seem “done and dusted,” adding layers of emotion, conflict, and character dynamics. It will be interesting to see how he sustains this momentum and keeps viewers invested throughout its runtime
