A new teaser for a Pakistani film has dropped today, and it’s called “Aag Lagay Basti Mein”. The film was first teased on 25th December by Tabish Hashmi on his Instagram with the hashtag #ALBM. It stars Fahad Mustafa, Mahira Khan, Tabish Hashmi, and Javed Sheikh sahab.
With what little the teaser reveals, we can see that Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan play the roles of daily wage labourers. They’re trying to save up for “Doobai” in a small jar little by little. The narration recounts the children’s tale of the chicken that laid a golden egg.
The trailer is spliced with a car chase, the shanty towns of Karachi, gunshots, and a warehouse littered with bodies. The final shot is Tabish Hashmi, in the avatar of a gangster, giving the camera a glare.
“Aag Lagay Basti Mein” is directed by Bilal Atif who was previously an Assistant Director to Nabeel Qureshi for “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad”. If the trailer is any guide, Bilal Atif has learned from Nabeel Qureshi’s rapid filmmaking style and infused his own elements.
The film is the first major release announcement for Eid Ul Fitr 2026. Eid audiences will have at least one theater option this year that is an out and out entertainer.
