‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ Worldwide Box Office: Becomes All Time Second-Highest Grossing Film

‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has surpassed expectations at the worldwide box office to become ARY Films’ highest ever grosser worldwide. With a mammoth PKR 86 Cr total, it now stands as the second-highest grossing film (unadjusted for inflation) ever from Pakistan only behind ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’(2022).

A Half Century at the Domestic Box Office

It’s not even been a month since the film’s release and it’s galloped past the PKR 50 Cr mark at the local box office. ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ stands at PKR 54.5 Cr and counting.

With major cinema chains in cities still reporting house full shows over weekends, it’s realistic to assume the film isn’t quite done yet. We may see it go past the PKR 60 Cr mark.

A Steady Hold at the International Box Office

While not quite as impressive as its local box office returns, ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has become one of the highest grossers ever at the overseas box office. It has accumulated a total of PKR 31.5 Cr from the US and Canada, the UK, the UAE, and Australia.

Performance at Major Cinema Chains

As you would expect, ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ has generated some of its largest box office receipts from major cinema chains in the largest cities in Pakistan. Here are a few of those totals that we have compiled from insider sources and official announcements.

Nueplex Cinemas (Karachi)

Nueplex Cinemas is the largest cinema chain in Karachi, with 16 screens in total across two locations. The chain has reported a total gross of over PKR 13 Cr by April 9. The average ticket cost at the cinema chain is PKR 1000. Some quick calculation will tell you they’ve sold well over 100,000 tickets!

Centaurus Cineplex (Islamabad)

Centaurus Cineplex is located inside Centaurus Mall in Islamabad and is owned by Nadeem Mandviwalla. They reported a total of PKR 1.05 Cr on 5th April.

The total number of tickets is harder to calculate here, since the cinema has 5 screens, with prices varying from PKR 800 to PKR 2000 for the Ambassador Cinema.

Assuming an average price of PKR 1000, the film may have sold over 10,000 tickets at Centaurus.
