Regardless of a dull year for cinema business, filmmaker Abu Aleeha is on filmmaking spree as he has already started shooting his next film before the release of his Ayesha Omar starrer “Taxali Gate”. Aleeha’s next film ‘Her Pher’ is an action comedy that features Umer Aalam and Eshal Fayyaz for the first time. The film will have a double version release in terms of language; i.e. Urdu for the Sindh region and Punjabi for the Punjab and international audiences. So we at Pakistani Cinema approached the lead actors for more details.
Eshal Fayyaz
According to Eshal Fayyaz ‘Her Pher’ is a vibrant Urdu – Punjabi action comedy film that promises a rollercoaster of laughter, drama, and action. “It’s a joyous collaboration with director Abu Aleeha. I am super thrilled about the unique and entertaining storyline.”
When asked about her character and premise of the film she said, “I play a spirited character that adds a refreshing twist to the plot. The story revolves around humor, action, and unexpected turns that create a dynamic narrative. The audience will be hooked from start to finish. My character adds a layer of charm and charisma to the storyline, contributing to the overall humor.”
The genre-defying nature of the film excited Eshal to a huge extent. “It’s not just a film, it’s an experience that blends two genres in the Urdu-Punjabi cinematic space. Also, the opportunity to work with Abu Aleeha, known for his distinct storytelling, was a major draw.”
The Kaaf Kangana actor was all praises for her director, “Working with Abu Aleeha has been a journey filled with energy and passion for storytelling. His creative vision creates an environment that brings out the best in every artist. It is a collaboration filled with learning and enthusiasm.”

Umer Aalam
Umer plays a serial killer, who cons and kills girls to grab their valuables. “I am flirting with girls and every time Eshal and her team try to catch me something or the other happens and I succeed in escaping.”
‘Her Pher’ is Umer’s second outing with Abu Aleeha. They have earlier collaborated on Taxali Gate. “This time around we are shooting the film in Guerilla style. Nothing is planned as such, we are blocking and improvising scenes, and a lot of it is spontaneous. He is helpful as a director, be it the dialogues, close-ups and technical aspects. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that ‘Her Pher’ is entirely his brainchild.”
For the unversed, this is Umer’s first film as a solo lead, “I am excited in fact, I was very nervous on the first day of shoot. It felt like working and prepping up for theater. Several artists from the Punjab stage will be part of the film. They have superb comic timing. Some well-choreographed action sequences were fun to shoot. We are working very hard. I hope people will like it.”
Written and directed by Abu Aleeha, ‘Her Pher’ is slated for release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2024.
