Horror film ‘Deemak’ continues its money minting streak at box office through third week. Film has grossed PKR 2.11 crore over the third weekend, maintaining an outstanding hold with only 23% drop compared to second weekend (PKR 2.75 crore). This takes the 16 day tally to the an impressive PKR 12.7 crore.
‘Deemak’ managed to surpass the PKR 10 crore benchmark in just two weeks and is now steadily inching towards the PKR 15 crore milestone.
It has already become the highest grossing horror film ever in Pakistan, leaving behind all Hollywood, Bollywood and Indonesian horror flicks.
The Sameena Peerzada, Faysal Qureshi, and Sonya Hussyn starrer is a box office hit across all major cinema markets in the country. While Lahore has obviously taken the lead with PKR 4.7 crore, Karachi is not very far behind either, with an impressive PKR 4.1 crore, despite having relatively fewer cinema houses.
Deemak’s success, indeed, shows that Pakistani audiences are open to experimental storytelling and unconventional genres, especially when production quality of the project is up-to the mark. This can certainly pave the way for more innovative projects in Pakistani cinema.
