Pakistani Films and Artists Make it Big at Mosaic South Asian International Film Festival

Pakistani films and artists made it big at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF) held in Mississauga, Canada this week.

All the major Pakistani entries at the four day annual festival won accolades. Starting from “Joyland” that has been a sweeping success at all the film festivals for quite some time, the film managed to bag four Awards for ‘Best International Feature’, ‘Best Screenplay’ (Saim Sadiq, Mary Margaret Briggs), ‘Best Sound Design’ and ‘Best Actress’ to Rasti Farooqi.

“Kamli”, which recently set on its journey at the international film festivals after being well received by the critics and audiences alike, won Sania Saeed the ‘Best Actress Award’ at the festival for her role of a blind woman in the film.

Apart from these two heavyweights, Balochi film “Doda”, revolving around the life of a former boxer, bagged ‘Special Jury Prize’ at the event. Moreover short film “Murder Tongu” walked away as the ‘Best International Short Film’.
