We had earlier updated our readers regarding Sarmad Khoosat’s two upcoming projects. One of these was supposed to be a commercial flick while the other one was a Punjabi film set in Lahore. Of these two, the Punjabi movie was the first one to go on floors and its shoot has just recently wrapped up. And now more news have started to pour in about the same project. The film will be titled “Zindagi Tamasha” and as per Something Haute, Sarmad has also bought the song rights of this famous song from 70’s “Zindagi Tamasha Bani”. The original song is from Munawar Zareef’s all time classic Punjabi movie “Nokar Wohti Da”, released in 1974 and was sung by Afshaan Begum.
The film is expected to have a strong Punjabi flare being set in Lahore “The reason the film is going to be in Punjabi is because it is set in Lahore and Punjabi is the only language that will encapsulate the story rooted in this city and its culture. I feel like the aura, the authenticity, and the dialect of Lahore have not been embedded on screen yet.”Sarmad was quoted saying at the time of announcement of film. “Its really a badass film” he further added.
Being the first film under Khoosat banner, the film is produced by Sarmad’s sister Kanwal Khoosat whose directed theater play “Mushk” received great public response last year. While story of the film is conceived by Sarmad himself, NCA graduate Nirmal Bano was taken on board for screenplay and Khizer Idrees, known for his work in Manto and Verna, has done cinematography of this film.
And just to remind, cast of the film includes Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman, Ali Kureshi and Arif Hassan in prominent roles.
While the film awaits a release date considering that the shoot has already ended, we expect it wont fall much away!
