It was last month that Hamza Ali Abbasi, with a tweet, hinted at making an important announcement thus leaving us with curiosity regarding what the actor will come up with. But going by his inclination towards religion and politics in recent years we were all quite certain that it would most probably be about leaving showbiz and entering political arena or something related to Islam. Thus the 24 minute video message he appeared with yesterday didn’t come of as a surprise.
In the video Hamza touched many topics, starting off with his journey from atheism to Islam at an early age. “I used to have many questions regarding existence of God and the universe for which I consulted many Ulemas but not finding satisfactory answers lead me to atheism” however it was after moving to US and studying science that he finally tilted towards religion realizing there is a force behind all this “It is not the result of blind forces of nature.”
And how he came of to the conclusion that how this world is bound to come of to an end which makes nothing else matter but the preparation for the world hereafter. “It was a painful journey of 12-13 years” he explains. Thus vowing to spend rest of his life spreading message of Allah and quitting acting for a long period of time which he went on to explain ”isn’t because it’s forbidden (Haram) in Islam but because he doesn’t want people to come up to him and talk about his showbiz activities”.
He expressed his desire to touch taboo subjects of Islam even if his life is at risk saying that he doesn’t care if his life is at risk, because It doesn’t mater if he dies now or 20 years later. He however will not quit showbiz fully as he plans to produce films and dramas with religious or patriotic element.
He further expressed his plan to be a part of political activism which he thinks is a responsibility but he won’t be entering electoral politics because it requires lying and deceiving to protect a particular party’s political agenda; something he is not willing for.
Talking about his latest drama “Alif” he revealed that ”The Legend of Maula Jatt was supposed to be my last film but I did ‘Alif’ only because it depicted someone’s journey towards God ”

With this announcement of Hamza their is a strong possibility that he won’t be promoting for what seems to be his last film for a long time now, “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, just like he previously kept himself away from promoting “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani”.
We wish the actor best of luck for this new journey and hope he succeeds at delivering what he intends to. Industry and his fans will miss him on screen, for sure.
