Celebrities are finally calling out misogyny of Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar. After his humiliating remarks regarding “mera jism meri marzi” slogan on a live show went viral.
The writer was called on the show to talk about Lahore High Court’s decision to dismiss the petition to block Aurat March 2020. The writer, however, lost his cool on Pakistani journalist Marvi Sarmad and started misbehaving, uttering some condemnable statements like “tere jism mein hai kya?”, “uloo ki pathi” and “bitch“.
You may or may not be a supporter of feminism but this kind of abuse against anyone is enough to agitate. Hence we not only saw general public but also some prominent industry people raising voice against Khalil Ur Rehman. Moreover, a petition to boycott the writer has begun circulating.
Here’s how some of the biggest names of the industry condemned the writer’s misogynistic behavior.
Mahira Khan
I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar

Sanam Saeed
What’s scarier than #KhalilurRehman‘s temper, insecurities and mysogonistic attitude, is us who continue to encourage and engage him. Who cares if you’re a good writer. You’re a vile human being. Who speaks like that? What gives u the right to pass judgment like that? #Shameful

Urwa Hocane
Sick to my stomach. I’m disturbed that I & many others have contributed to this misbehaviour by opting for his scripts despite him being misogynistic & verbally abusive. This man should be held accountable on every level. For starters we all must BAN him. #khalilurrehmanqamar

Bilal Ashraf

The problem with outrage culture when it comes to matters of the entertainment industry is aside from checking boxes (being on the 'right' side of a debate) & preaching to the converted, what good has it done us?

I hv not seen such a JAAHIL insan like #khalilurrehmanqamar who the hell he think he is ? News channel invite him, so that he ends up uttering some nonsense and they can fetch some TRPs ! shame on tv channels & Khalil ! Disgraceful

Fizza Ali Mirza
How Ironic it is to see someone of this calibre trying to give approval to the opposite gender by bringing his own gender type to the shallowest possibility point.
He is a shame to the Human race!!
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar should be totally boycotted on every medium .— Fizza Ali Meerza (@fizza999) March 3, 2020
Mehreen Jabbar
Disgusting inexcusable behavior. But not surprising. The slaves of ratings will keep giving work, keep making retrogressive dramas & worst of all he’s not the only one. There are many who think like him but disguise themselves well. Lagta hai tameez aur lehaaz khatam and words..

While many are calling out the writer for the controversial remarks their are others who are either silent or are backing the writer both within and outside the industry which shows how our society still has deep-rooted misogynistic and anti-feminist approach.
