With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year, activities within Pakistan’s up and coming film industry came to a grinding halt, impacting the release and shooting schedules of some highly anticipated ventures. However, the dark clouds finally show signs of clearing up with the steady stream of positive news regarding vaccine breakthroughs in recent days, as well as resumption of film shoots breathing back life into studios. Leading the charge is one of the most anticipated upcoming release, the Saba Qamar, Zahid Ahmed and and Syed Jibran starrer “Ghabrana Nahi Hai”, which is on course towards trailblazing Pakistani cinema back into the theaters next year.
Directed by Saqib Khan, with Jamil Baig and Hassan Zia (Wrong No., Wrong No. 2, Mehrunnisa V Lub U) handling the production credits, the film’s shoot commenced earlier in March, only to be halted by the lockdown after a few days. However, as things stand today, the film is on track towards completing much of its work by the end of this year.
Speaking exclusively to Pakistani Cinema, Hassan Zia stated: “We will have completed 20 days of shoot by the end of this month, and by December, insha’Allah 90% of the film will be completed.” Sounding optimistic about the prospects for releasing it next year, he added: “Following a wrap up spell in Lahore and Faisalabad, we hope to complete the film by January and are aiming for a release date in the middle of next year.”
Starring a medley of audience favorites, Zia emphasized the film is high on content and that its script will be just as much of a USP as its cast. “We have a strong ensemble cast featuring the likes of Saba Qamar, Zahid Ahmed, Syed Jibran along with Afzal Khan (Jan Rambo), Saleem Mairaj among a host of other senior actors. The wonderfully lighthearted script (penned by Mohsin Ali) is sure to complement the spectacular performance the cast has put in – in short the film promises to be high on content.”
