EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Donkey King’ Ends One Month Run in China on a Good Note

Pakistani animated feature ‘The Donkey King’ released in China last month as a first Pakistani feature to get a wide commercial release with more than five thousand shows. Film was released in two versions: an original version with Chinese subtitles and a Chinese dubbed version.

As per the permission granted by China Film Group Corporation, film was allowed to be exhibited for a period of one month. During this period, film has earned a total of $878k (15.6 crore PKR). Though the numbers are not huge if we compare these with that of other international titles released in China; however, for a Pakistani animated film these numbers are quite good and promise a good market in China for Pakistani films.

Another Pakistani animated title ‘Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor’ is now set to release in China tomorrow on 25th of December. It will be interesting to see if it will be able to chase the benchmarks set by ‘The Donkey King’. Keep visiting this space for more updates.
