This week has proven to be an incredible one for cinema industry as the latest release “Jurassic World Dominion” has taken the box office by storm with second highest opening weekend of the year raking around 5 crore PKR at Pakistani box office. According to trade analyst Ali Zain, film is estimated to have collected 1.42 crore PKR on Friday, 1.67 crore PKR and then 1.88 crore PKR on Sunday. The growth over the days has been phenomenal.
Among the holdover releases, last week’s release “Kamli” has managed to consolidate its hold at box office over second weekend with a collection of 74 lacs PKR, showing a very small drop of 37% from its first weekend which was 1.18 crore PKR. According to Ali Zain, it collected 20 lac PKR on Friday, 27 lac PKR on Saturday and another 27 lac PKR on Sunday. Film has so far made 2.79 crore PKR in ten days.
Tom Cruise starrer “Top Gun: Maverick” remained the third best choice of cinegoers over the third weekend of its release and managed to rake in 61 lacs PKR. Film has so far collected 9.91 crore PKR and is gearing up for the 10 crore milestone.
There are four local and Hollywood films lined up for release this Friday but none of those has the potential to slow down “Jurassic World Dominion” and it is expected to lead at the box office in the next week as well. The other two holdover releases, “Kamli” and “Top Gun: Maverick”, will also have legs in the coming week.
