Shayan Khan of Zashko Films, an emerging name in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, has taken Nasir Adeeb on board to write the production companies’ next feature film, titled “The Great Gama”
The ace writer, who is flying high on the success of “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, will be penning the film which is based on the life of legendary pehlwani wrestler of the United India from British era, commonly known as “The Great Gama” and “Rustam-E-Hind”. Gama, a part of International Wrestling Hall of Fame, had fought and won over 5000 matches in his lifetime and his legacy inspired the likes of Bruce Lee and continues inspiring modern day wrestlers. With the magic Nasir Adeeb has woven in penning “TLOMJ”, he seems to be the best choice to chronicle the heroics of Gama.
Zashko Films is an American film production and distribution company founded in 2016 by Khawar Farooqi. It is known best for being the producer of 2018’s “Na Band Na Baraati” and upcoming Fawad Khan starrer “Money Back Guarantee”, and being the distributor of “Sher Dil” (2019), “Heer Maan Jaa” (2019) and “Superstar” (2019).
The companies’ latest production “Money Back Guarantee”, which will hit the theaters on Eid-Ul-Fitr next year, boasts the biggest stellar cast to be seen in a film in the recent years. Making headlines with it’s trailer release already, the film is one to look forward to for the next year.
Shayan Khan, whose debut acting outing was “Naa Band Na Baraati” other than being a part of “Money Back Guarantee”, will also be seen in a Hollywood film, titled “The Wrong One”, where we will get to see his diverse acting capabilities through the character of Bashir. The character dealing with parenthood, loss of loved one, a thirst for vengeance, promises to give us a glimpse of his acting prowess. The film’s shooting wrapped up recently and it will be available for viewing on VOD in 2023.
The actor is also set for a web series debut with none other than Saba Qamar in political drama “Mandi”,co produced by Mikaal Zulfiqar and Zashko Films. The project has already got our curiosity levels up with it’s exciting BTS images and we can’t wait to watch the two perform together.
Considering the lack of investors in the local film industry for all the financial risks and other hurdles involved in making films, it’s great to see Zashko Films putting in effort to revolutionize the local industry. Also, since the company is America based, the investment brings much needed in flow of remittances in the country, while also producing new jobs and providing our stars a platform to shine on and exhibit their capabilities. Many other projects from Zashko productions are currently in pre-production phase and are said to be announced soon.
