Ahmed Ali Akbar Plays Journalist in Next Film “Gunjal”; First Look Unveiled

Ahmed Ali Akbar is back to films with his next project titled “Gunjal” where the “Parizaad” star will be seen playing a journalist. This would be Ahmed’s fifth film after “Siyaah” (2013), “Karachi Sey Lahore” (2015), “Parchi” (2018) and “Laal Kabootar” (2019). He also did a cameo role in Mahira Khan starrer “Ho Mann Jahan” (2016).

Directed by Shoaib Sultan and produced by Nighat Akbar Shah, “Gunjal” also stars Resham, Amna Ilyas, Ahmed Ali Butt, Omair Rana, Syed Mohammad Ahmed and Samiya Mumtaz. The film is based on true events and follows the journey of journalist Shahbaz Bhatti as he investigates the murder of child activist Irfan Masih in 1990’s Pakistan.

Shoaib Sultan has previously directed short films that includes New York City International Film Festival winner “Darya Kay Iss Paar” and Resham and Omair Rana starrer “Long Distance”. This would be Shoaib’s debut feature film for theatrical release.

The poster of the film has been released on social media. The shoot of the film is complete and it is expected to release later this year.
