‘The Glassworker’ Takes an Encouraging Start at Box Office

“The Glassworker” has received widespread acclaim across the country from both audiences and critics. It has also officially recorded a respectable opening weekend with 1.1 Cr.

The first hand drawn animated film from Pakistan, “The Glassworker” has tapped into a niche audience that loves the art form. Most of its audience members have been waiting for close to a decade for this film to be released. Now when it’s finally hit theaters, they are coming out to see it.

Animated films in Pakistan have sporadically done well at the box office. The Teen Bahadur films and especially the Donkey King have marked milestones. The latter, released by Geo films, made over 25 Cr locally, and over 45 Cr worldwide. It also had an opening weekend of 2.75 Cr.

Geo films is also the distributor for “The Glassworker”, and if history is any guide, this can be another milestone to remember. Usman Riaz’s debut feature is in theaters across Pakistan.
