‘Deemak’ Teaser (Review): The Super Natural Thriller Promises Thrill And Chills In Abundance!

The Pakistani film industry is going through a low phase in general, with few films in the offering. We do have some hope as filmmaker Rafay Rashdi recently released the teaser trailer of his upcoming horror film ‘Deemak’. The film stars Faysal Qurashi, Sonya Hussyn, Samina Peerzada, Bushra Ansari and Javed Sheikh. The script is written by Ayesha Muzaffar and directed by Rafay Rashdi. It is produced by Wah Wah Productions.

The one-minute, five-second teaser trailer gives us all the mandatory ingredients of a horror film. The dark pitch night, the haunted house, the closing doors, the lights going off, and the ghost resurfacing to seek revenge. It is an urban supernatural thriller in which a couple, played by Faysal and Sonya, encounters supernatural events in their house.

The trailer is completely content-driven, it sans forced commercial ingredients and packs intense moments in abundance. The characters look believable, moreover, the production value is on point. The sound quality and background score seem impressive. Things turn eerie when we see a glimpse of the ghost. The impact stays with you even after the trailer has ended. The trailer is refreshingly different.

We don’t have many memorable films based on the horror genre; Rashidi takes the challenge and delves into this less explored genre. Going by the cast, it’s good to see credible actors experimenting and contributing to cinema. On the whole, the first teaser of ‘Deemak’ has the thrills and chills to scare. Looks like the cravings of discerning horror fans are soon to be fulfilled.

‘Deemak’ is yet to have a release date but it’s expected to release sometime in first half of 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
