Veteran Film Actress Mumtaz to Make Comeback With Shahzad Rafique’s ‘Welcome to Punjab’

Film actress Mumtaz bid farewell to film industry in early 90’s after enjoying a successful career spanning over two decades. After a hiatus of more than three decades, the veteran is now all set for her comeback to silver screen with filmmaker Shehzad Rafique’s upcoming film ‘Welcome to Punjab’.

The film’s first spell is currently being shot at Saqib Malik’s residence in Karachi, the very location where Wajahat Rauf shot his film ‘Parde Mein Rehne Do’. Saqib, not just a filmmaker himself but also a cinema aficionado, shared a video on his Instagram with Mumtaz from the shoot of the film.

‘Welcome to Punjab’ is Shehzad’s sixth film as director after ‘Rukhsati’ (2001), ‘Salakhain’ (2004), ‘Mohabbatan Sachiyan’ (2007), ‘Ishq Khuda’ (2012) and ‘Salute’ (2016). Hence, the film is also going to mark the second inning for the veteran filmmaker after a gap of eight years.

The film will introduce newcomers in lead roles but it boasts an ensemble cast in supporting roles that includes, besides Mumtaz, names like Bushra Ansari, Javed Sheikh, Nadeem Baig, Iftikhar Thakur and Adnan Siddiqui.
