Exclusive: Fawad Khan and Ayeza Khan to Pair Up for a Nadeem Baig Film

If you have to name one filmmaker from modern Pakistani cinema with the highest number of blockbusters to his credit, you won’t have to think twice. It’s Nadeem Baig without a second thought. His debut film ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Aani’ (2015) redefined the market potential for local comedies, and ten years later, when commercial filmmaking had largely stalled in a post-Covid-19 landscape, his ‘Love Guru’ (2025) filled theatres again and helped restore investor’s confidence in commercial cinema.

Nadeem was working on multiple scripts after ‘Love Guru’, and the good news is that he’s now geared up to take his next project to the floor in a few days. But no, it’s neither Vasay Chaudhry’s ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3’ nor Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s ‘Mirza Jatt’. This is a different project, penned by Faiza Iftikhar, who previously wrote the TV serial ‘Dil Lagi’ (2016) for Nadeem Baig and made her film debut as a screenwriter with Qasim Ali Mureed’s ‘Tich Button’ (2022).

A Casting Surprise!

The biggest surprise is the film’s lead cast. Nadeem’s next stars Fawad Khan and Ayeza Khan together for the first time. The two Khans recently worked together on an ad campaign, and fans have been wanting to see them share the screen together ever since. Well, it seems they won’t have to wait long!

This is the first time Nadeem will be directing a film without Humayun Saeed, certainly a refreshing change for cinegoers. It also marks the film debut of Ayeza Khan, one of the biggest names in Pakistan’s TV industry. Ayeza has previously worked under Nadeem’s direction in successful projects like ‘Pyarey Afzal’ (2013) and ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’ (2020).

To the Many Firsts!

Nadeem is clearly in the mood to step out of his comfort zone. From casting Fawad instead of Humayun, to convincing Ayeza Khan for her film debut, to opting for Faiza’s script over Vasay or Khalil, to working outside the ARY camp, the project is full of many firsts. We sincerely hope it delivers many firsts at the box office too when it releases.

The film is set to go on the floor on April 17 in Lahore.
