“Pinky Memsaab” promises to offer substantial cinema with its official posters

With the release of a number commercial blockbuster films in recent months, looks like Pakistani cinema is about to have its due dose of serious cinema that too independent one. Recently an independent film ”Pinky Memsaab” was announced with its official posters and left us intrigued at the themes of the film that this project is going to explore.

Pinky Memsaab’s stars “Hajra Yasmeen” in lead role, who made her big screen debut earlier this year with “Maan Jao Na”. Hajra with her natural acting skills, strikingly unique features and curly hair, got noticed in no time and is definitely a star in the making. Film’s cast also includes Kiran Malik, Adnan Jafar, Khalid Ahmed, Hajra Khan and veteran actor Shameem Hilaly. Also there are actors from India and Dubai who are playing various roles in the film, so the canvas of the film will be very diverse as far as the cast is concerned.

We have learnt that the film is an international production and is shot in Dubai with actors from India, Pakistan and UAE. The story of the film “Pinky Memsaab” is described to encompass the lives of an innocent maid, a ravishing socialite, an investment banker with high aspirations and a happy-go-lucky chauffeur. How these strikingly different lives are entwined to each other in the city of Dubai, will be seen at the silver screens of our cinemas soon.

Speaking to media Hajra who plays the titular character Pinky said that her character is of a young woman from a small village in Punjab who travels to Dubai to work as a maid. The movie is about her journey, the type of people that she meets over there. It will show a contrast between her life in the village and that in a big city. It’s a tale of self-discovery with its own pinches of bitterness and Sweetness. Written and directed by Shazia Ali Khan, a Dubai based filmmaker with this being her debut cinematic venture. 80% of the film has been shot in Dubai.

Pinky Memsaab’s official release date is yet to be announced but it is expected to hit the theaters by the end of this year. Read this scribe to know more about this and many more upcoming Pakistani film projects.
